Fostering Closeness Worksheet

$1.99

This exercise is excellent for both newer and older relationships! If you’re in a long term relationship, then you probably already know many of the things your partner will tell you. That’s okay. It’s very likely you still will learn something new. The goal here is to discuss some topics that would not come up in everyday life. This will help you learn more about your partner and foster a deeper and more meaningful relationship.

In this exercise you’ll find the full list of questions and prompts used in that study by Dr. Arthur Aron, a social psychologist who conducted a study to explore the potential of using questions to quickly build intimacy between two people. The study involved having pairs of strangers answer a series of 36 increasingly personal and revealing questions, followed by four minutes of sustained eye contact. The results of the study showed that the participants experienced a significant increase in feelings of closeness and intimacy after completing the exercise. The findings of the study were published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology in 1997.
